Art is not what you see, but what you make others see. - Edgar Degas
Holding Hands
Parents hold our hands to help us walk when we are young but when they get to the age when they need help walking, for some, there is no one to hold their hand. Holding hands signifies a sense of comfort and unconditional support. Elders were always there to provide their support and bring us up when we fall, but now the cycle of life changes and they are the ones in need of our support. At this stage, there is no one to support them except their walking stick. They need someone to hold their hand and become their pillar of support, and this website is a small step in attempting to provide them the helping hand they deserve.

Hi, I am Prisha and art has been my passion for as long as I could hold a pencil in my hand. Whether it be trying to color in between the lines back in elementary school or making portraits about nature now, I have always been fascinated with this world. I love to make paintings and draw sketches and I would love to share my creations with the world. Helping those in need while doing so is the icing on the cake. I have always looked for ways to help in my community and make people’s day better, and through this endeavor, I plan on achieving this goal. Proceedings from the artworks bought will go to various charities and organizations that strive to help elders in need.
My first experience with art was where everyone’s journey starts, elementary school. Art was a mandatory subject so I was introduced to this world at a very young age, however I did not begin to appreciate it until a few years later. I would go to class every day and complete my assignments without putting in much thought, it was merely a task for me. My mentality, however, changed in the summer of 2014 when I went on vacation to India. To put my time to use, my mom put me in a local art class. Even though I only took this class for 2-3 weeks, it changed my life for the better. I gained a new perspective and appreciation for art and learned to be more creative. You see, when art is taught in a strict classroom, there is rarely room for any imagination, but in this class, art was being taught very organically. Not only did I learn techniques that I use till this day, I learned to think differently. From then on, I began drawing, coloring and painting anything that came to mind. It was no longer a task for me, but an outlet for my emotions and creativity. Moving forward, I took art in every grade where I had the choice and absolutely loved it.
Although I always wanted to do something with art, the idea of donating to the elderly was also always on my mind. I have always loved to help older people and listen to their wisdom and used to volunteer there regularly, before the Covid pandemic. When the pandemic started, I could no longer visit and help them, which made me feel very empty inside. I connected my passion for art with this idea of charity and realized that I could use artwork as a way to help older people that could no longer help themselves. Elderly people work their entire lives to provide and protect for their offspring, but when it is their turn to receive the same treatment, some are not so fortunate. As people grow older, they are in need of much more support as their health can drastically deteriorate. In this critical time, it is our duty, as younger people, to help them in any way that we can. We should give back to the people that provided us with so much wisdom by being there for them in this time of need. I wanted to do my part by putting my artwork for sale and giving a percentage of the proceeds to “CHARITY”. Please help me in this noble cause by purchasing a beautiful piece of art for your home while also giving back to the community.

Change the perception
At the early stages of our lives, we have a lot of colorful dreams in our eyes, however, as we grow older, our dreams begin to fade. It is our responsibility to keep these dreams alive and bring that youthfulness back into the eyes of the elders.
